“Green” Benefits of Paintless Dent Removal

When you choose a paintless dent removal company to repair the dings and dents in your car’s body, you are eliminating the need for harsh chemicals. Traditional paint and body shops rely on auto paint, sanding materials, and body fillers to make your car look like new. All of these materials are made of harsh chemicals that are hazardous to dispose of and require energy to both manufacture and utilize. The chemicals in auto paint – whether it is an activator, clearcoat, paint thinner, basecoat, or primer – contain everything from barium sulfate to titanium dioxide, which are non-organic solvents that can pose a risk to individuals and the environment.

Paintless dent removal companies skip this harmful step by working with what is already there – your car’s metal panels – to gently massage and work the shape of your car back to its flawless condition. The process is so mild that there’s no need to use touch-up paint to finish the job, giving you an effective and safe alternative.

“Green” Benefits of Mobile Repair Services

When you choose paintless dent removal in addition to mobile services, you get an even lower environmental impact. When you make an appointment at a traditional body shop, you typically have to get in your car, drive it to the site, and have yet another person pick you up to take you where you need to go. You then have to repeat the same steps when your car is finished. When you add up all the people who get dent removal services in a single year, this adds up to a substantial amount of unnecessary gas consumption.

Mobile paintless dent removal services like the ones offered by Dings Plus of San Jose, CA streamline this process to use the least amount of environmental impact possible. By coming to your home or office, the dent removal specialists at Dings Plus can combine several repairs into a single journey – meaning that not only are you offered great service on your schedule, but you’re also reducing the overall amount of drive time for everyone involved. As far as the environment is concerned, it is a win-win situation.

Whether you are just interested in re-spraying a small area to cover up some paint chips, or want to treat your car to a custom paint job that will let you enjoy envious stares from every pedestrian you pass, you will need to follow a few basic rules, and have the right tools to hand in order to carry out the work to a high standard.

The first thing to mention about auto paint jobs is that you should always work in a well ventilated area. Paint fumes can include a number of solvents that can leave you feeling light headed and even poison you if you inhale them, so make sure there is free passage of air through your work shop when you are painting. You should also wear a respirator mask during painting or preparation to avoid inhaling any paint and loose dust that you release.

To get the best effects when painting, you also need to make sure that you are able to keep dust to a minimum. You can achieve a good environment by hanging sheets from floor to ceiling in the area where you are working, and wearing overalls. You should also vacuum clean the area where you are painting at the beginning of every session.

When you apply auto body paint, the main thing is to get a good even finish that looks good, and the key to getting a good finish is having a good start. Preparation is everything in paining. Get it right, and you will be able to enjoy a fantastic smooth finish that will last for years and look great, skimp on your preparation, and your finish will look shabby straight away, and then get worse over time.

Before you paint, you need to strip off the old paint job. You can do this with a solvent based paint remover, or do it the hard way by sanding back the panels to bare metal using a sander. Whichever method you choose, you need to make sure that you have a very smooth base. To achieve this, use the finest grade abrasive paper available, and be prepared to put serious time into the job.

Once you are satisfied with your base, you can start applying the primer. Use a HLVP spray gun connected to an air compressor, as this is much more even than an aerosol, and will be much cheaper in the long run. You should use long sweeping strokes in a single direction to get a good base to paint onto. After every coat, allow the paint to dry, and then sand it back to a smooth surface. Then apply the next coat in strokes that go at 90 degrees to the previous layer, as this will produce an even color.

There are two types of auto paint that you can use on a car, cellulose based and Two Pack auto paint. Most painters now use Two Pack because it gives a better finish, and metallic colors are available, whereas cellulose paint can be tricky to deal with, and is best used on classic cars where you are trying to recapture an older style.

As with the primer, you should apply the auto paint in coats, spraying in a single direction, then sanding back to a fine surface to remove any imperfections, before applying the next layer at right angles to the previous one.

In between coats, it is imperative to clean the nozzles on your HVLP spray gun, as otherwise, small flakes of dried paint can be caught up in the spray and cause imperfections that will spoil the final effect.

Once you are satisfied that you have got a good covering and applied enough coats of auto body paint to create an excellent finish, apply one more coat for best effects, allow it to dry, and then sand back for a smooth finish. You should leave the paint to dry completely for 24 hours and then apply a wax polish to the whole body in order to protect your new paint job and give it a shine that will certainly catch the attention of anyone you pass on the road.

Are you the owner of a beautiful car? Are you worried that the exposure to the cruel weather will spoil its sparkling beauty and the ugly rust will leave its scar on it? Rust Bullet’s car paint is our solution to your cars rust problem, just use our special a rel=”external nofollow” target=”_blank” href=”http://www.rustbullet.com/EngineeringData/engData.htm”>rust paint.

Rust Bullet’s Car Paint
Rust Bullet’s Car Paint takes care of your cars a rel=”external nofollow” target=”_blank” href=”http://www.rustbullet.com/ProductCart/pc/mainIndex.asp”>rust repair and your cars rust protection worries. The product has many advantages over other car paints available in the market; some of Rust Bullets advantages are:

A one step process
Rust Bullet provides you with a car paint that you can apply on rusty or clean car surfaces
This particular auto paint requires little or no prior surface preparation and can be applied directly on the cars roughened up surface.
Rust Bullet is scientifically tested and proven to be the best choice in the market place today. It clearly beats the market leaders POR15 and Rustoleum in performance durability and ease of application.
The car paint provided by Rust Bullet is also UV resistant the sun will not harm it.

The Rust Bullet’s Car Paint is very easy to apply and maintain. You simply roll, brush or spray the car paint onto the rusted areas. The process of using this product is very simple:
Remove the loose rust and large flakes by wire brushing the affected areas.
Then apply the paint.
The paint penetrates the surface and the resin solidifies to form a tough armor like coating
The second coat covers any pin holes in the first coat and forms bullet proof type layer that is non-penetrable thus protecting the surface for many years.
If somehow the paint is scratched or is damaged, maintenance is easy – just reapply the paint to prevent rust from forming.

Wax provides a shield to protect the paint and cover minor scratches, stone ships and other damages, making them less visible and slowing down the corrosion process. Waxing your car periodically provides a seal to prevent water from coming into contact with bare metal exposed by deep scratches.

You should wax your car every three months to protect the paint and maintain the color and shine. Some products claim to last much longer, but this is a myth; you should wax your car regularly for best results.

Wash the car and allow it to dry completely and park it in a shady spot as most products work better when the surface is cool to the touch. Use a good quality wax with no abrasives and a soft sponge or clean cloth to apply the wax. Work in sections, spreading the product on evenly. Allow a couple minutes for the wax to haze then buff it with a soft towel using circular motions to restore the shine.

Be careful not to touch areas like rubber door seals and black window trim as the wax will leave white stains on them. If this happens, window spray works well for cleaning these areas.

Regular washing and waxing keeps your auto paint looking new and shiny as it protects the car from fading in the sun. A clean car dries quicker as dirt and dust hold moisture, speeding up the corrosion process.

If you have neglected to wax you car for a long time you may want to take it to a detailing shop to be buffed with polishing compound to remove scratches and abrasions.

Better yet, have the body shop come to you! There are companies known as mobile auto body shops. They can often repair minor dents and scratches in just a few hours so you don’t have the inconvenience of leaving your car at the body shop for a few days.

A mobile auto body shop that comes to you is often much cheaper and the quality of work is just as good, if not better, than the traditional body shop that keeps your car while you have to pay for a rental or arrange other transportation.

Mark Orchard, owner of Collision on Wheels in Central Florida, provides a convenient alternative to traditional body shops. CW provides professional minor collision repair, scratch and dent repair and auto painting with computer color matching to restore your vehicle to like new condition. Most repairs are completed in a day or less, saving you time and money. Visit http://www.collisiononwheelsorlando.com to learn more.

Painting your automobile is an important step in improving the appearance and protecting the body of your vehicle. There are a number of ways to find providers of auto painting service. In addition, you can also decide on doing this task yourself.

Most of the time, you would be contented with the color of your automobile. You would then proceed to maintaining the other components of your vehicle such as its engine as well as its interior equipments and furnishings. However, there may be an instance when you would decide on modifying or completely changing the color of your car. Also, you may encounter a situation wherein certain parts of your cars body need to be painted due to damages caused by a mishap.

If you are in one of these aforesaid situations, you need to acquire a service aptly known as auto painting. There are a number of ways to get in touch with providers of this service.

First, you can drive to one of the car repair shops in your city. These establishments usually have experts who render this kind of service. Once you have met an auto painter, clearly point out what needs to be done to your car. Ideally, you should use the car you would like to be painted, as this would help you properly describe the changes that have to be performed on it. Then you have to indicate exactly which type and color of paint should be used. If you cannot decide which color of paint your car should have, the auto painter can give a set of suggestions. Examine each one and ask if you could see the cars in the shop with have the colors he has suggested or if you could see the paint colors them. After you have chosen the color you want your car to have, you can now discuss with the service provider the cost of the task. Keep in mind certain factors such as the length of time the painter would work on the car and whether he would paint the entire body or just a portion of it.

Alternatively, you can visit certain websites developed by companies the offer auto repair and painting. While searching for these online companies, you should focus on those that are working in your city or district. This will give much convenience especially when you will bring your car to the shop or when you need to visit it from time to time. Next, you should see if the online company provides a means of talking to its auto painters. This feature lets you talk to the painter and assess if you indeed want to acquire his service without going to his establishment.

Moving on, another option is to paint your own automobile. You can do this if you believe that you have a lot of patience, an artistic eye, and a sense of perfectionism. Generally, this process consists of several steps. First, you have to get rid of rust from your car by removing the metal that has rust and welding patches on the areas where metal has been removed. Then you have to straighten the car’s panel by using quality fillers and power sanders. Finally, you can carry out the actual painting. This step involves gathering the necessary tools, applying quality primer on your car’s body, and applying your chosen paint on it. Since this is the most crucial part of the project, you may want to consult a car specialist before doing this procedure.

GPS or Auto Navigation Systems were developed from technology originally devised for the United States Military. They are a remarkable confluence of design and science and have become almost invaluable to many road users. But remember that they are still developing and improving. So todays GPS system is likely to be inferior to thos that will be available in a year or two.

One thing to keep in mind is that there are almost invariablyproblems of some sort with all electronic gadgets. And it’s doubly true when it comes to equipment that is run by software. If you’re not sure about this, check out a computer that is run by Windows? We often find ourselves stymied by the limitations of the software we are using.

And the same is true when it comes to software driven GPS systems and GPS devices. This fact alone makes them a little unreliable. For those times when reliability isn’t at its best keep in mind that for the most part the system works well. And, of course, just like a cell phone, the time when you need it most will be the time when it isn’t working properly. The good news is that the units themselves are often quite resilient and even able to withstand the manhandling a typical rough and tumble two year old can dish out.

The reliability of GPS systems will always reduce when it doesn’t have full all-round views of the sky. For that reason there may be times when you aren’t able to get a clear signal. The obvious times that this happens is when going through tunnels under mountains or rivers. The GPS device has to pick up signals from at least three satellites, in geostationary orbit above the earth in order to be able to calculate its position. And usually a fourth satellite is needed for verification purposes. It means that although you might think you can see the sky clearly, your GPS might not be able to detect all four satellites.

Remember too that the use of a GPS system is not supposed to replace the use of maps aor common sense when you’re on the road. You can only store so much information on a GPS device and roads are constantly being built, changes, constructed, improved, and moved. For that reason alone it is nearly impossible to guarantee that any device will contain 100% accurate information at all times. You should buy a GPS or Auto Navigation System that has the facility for regular upgrades to its internal maps. Updating regularly and immediately prior to any large trips will go a long way towards saving some serious hair pulling while you travel.

GPS and auto navigation systems are still miles better than trying to read old maps, which might be out of date, for most of us. When you take the plunge and decide to buy one, don’t expect it to perform miracles. The systems are good but they’re not infallible. This technology is wonderful and affords many benefits to those who are willing and able to make use of it. Common sense is your biggest ally when driving and although a GPS can be a fantastic help it should only be used, as the military use it, in a support role.

The advice is all the same for auto repair scam prevention. You’ll be told to find an ASE certified shop. Ask around. Check out several different repair facilities first. Are they clean and neat? Do they provide written estimates? Check with the BBB. Is it AAA certified? Some will even advise to “ask for the parts back.”

Traditional tips and suggestions merely put a band-aid over an infected, gaping sore. Strong antibiotics are required to address the root source of the problems in the repair industry. To provide repair customers with the above advice is like sending a soldier into combat dressed in a pink tutu. We have to stop scratching at the surface.

There has not been any “new” advice in decades. More importantly, no one has answered why car repair scams have reached an estimated 40 billion dollars per year. Moreover, why is there still no solution to stop car repair scams?

The first hurdle to conquer is the perception of the frequency of auto repair scams. Many folks just don’t believe that car repair fraud is all that bad. Some even argue that the vast majority of repair shops do an honest day’s work, and that a few bad apples are making the rest look like crooks.

This is an interesting argument, and raises a number of questions.

1) If it is only a few “bad apples,” where are they hiding the 40 billion?

2) If most repair shops are honest, why does every state warn against car repair scams?

3) Why are auto repair shops at the top of consumer complaint lists every single year, in every state?

This is even expanding across the continents. For example, just last week Australia listed car repair scams at number 4 on their top 10 consumer complaint list.

The perception of frequency gets distorted because there are a number of levels to repair scams. There are the blatant rip-offs covered in the news. For a great video visit “Repair Scams Caught on Video”
www.repairtrust.com. Then there are the common scams such as exorbitant prices and estimates, and aggressive scare tactics to get service customers to perform services. These occur every day.

The repair scams uncovered by RepairTrust not only found the tactics listed above and more, but a powerful undercurrent of scamming at the foundation of the automotive service industry.

In reality, most car repair scams go unnoticed by the service consumer. Service customers just have no idea that they were ripped-off. This under-the-radar scamming occurs in dealerships, local shops, and franchises. Affiliation with ASE, AAA, BBB, NADA makes no difference.

An ASE patch on a technician's arm, or an AAA or BBB sticker on the door of a service center means absolutely nothing in terms of a scam-free facility. Word of mouth recommendations can be just as devastating, as even shops that "seem" honest aren't.

Check out "Car Repair Prices: There Are No Honest Mechanics"
Isnare or RepairTrust for further discussion on this. Also, for NEW and FREE scam prevention tips visit the Car Repair Scam Articles @ RepairTrust.

Traditional tips are ineffective in today’s service industry. Service facilities have found new and ingenious ways of ripping people off. In truth, many of the old tips and suggestions have actually become weapons allowing service centers to indulge in car repair scams more than ever.

The car repair playing field must be leveled. Service customers need solid answers, and they need to be equipped with information, understanding, tools, and an insider’s view of the who, what, when, where, why, and how of price-gouging.

Navigating the dim underworld of today’s service centers with outdated information will cost a fortune.

What do we all want while driving? To provide for our families, loved ones, and what have you. How do you accomplish this? There are a whole slew of roads to travel, but one main ingredient is a family car that is always 100% reliable. And if driving creates you running errands faster, to save money on gas, and decreasing air pollution, you win twice. Your 1993 Ford Tempo or whichever car, truck, van, or boat you drive needs to be performingat top capacity.

The most important thing you can do for your car is make regular auto maintenance check-ups, service all the automotive liquids. Oh, by the way, be sure to check your car’s liquids every 2 weeks. That means your oil, coolant, power steering fluid, and transmission liquids. Make checking your tires a constant too. My ex-girlfriend recently called me up and cried that one of her tires exploded driving under a freeway. Yikes. Also, don’t forget to maintain a proper fuel tank level according to your particular car’s engine (see car owner manual). A car owner manual is like the bible of your vehicle. If you don’t already have one, get one. You’ll wish you had one if your car breaks down in the desert.

Your car engine will thank you with better performance and quicker reaction times, which is an essential part of keeping you and your family and friends safe on the road. Make yourself aware of this info. It may save the life of your engine one day. It will save you money on gas and auto maintenance.

Choose the right fuel. Your vehicle is designed to take regular unleaded fuel, which will have this symbol (87) on the pump at the gas station. The 87 symbol refers to the level of octane in the fuel. Using lower grade of fuel will jack up your car engine and will cause heavy knocking, which could easily damage your engine. I drive a Ford Tempo, and my car owner manual says to use the 87 grade of gas.

Higher grade fuels will protect your fuel system from rusting and protect against fuel lock in the fuel system (causes engine to hesitate/stall and hard to restart). In addition, it will minimize fuel deposits in fuel injection system, and prevent your engine from knocking/pinging.

Higher grade fuels will also prevent the fuel system from “gumming up” when not run for long periods of time, not to mention help your, Ford Tempo perhaps, start more easily in winter while assisting in help the prevention of freezing fuel lines.

Tips to increase gas mileage include not driving at life-threatening highway speeds can dramatically lower your fuel economy. It maybe fun, but it’s the car that you don’t see that will do the most damage. Gradually increasing your speed will save you precious fuel. And the way gas prices have been, it is nice not having to cram all your money into your gas tank. Extended idling of your engine will lower your miles per gallon.

I hope theses tips allow you to spend more time with your family and friends. As well as save money on gas, and auto maintenance. Enjoy!

Good car maintenance is a prerequisite for a smooth running and a longer life of our prized possessions. While there indeed are automobile service stations to take care of them when they fall sick, you at your end can do a lot for your car’s upkeep and stitch it in time so as to save nine. This post offers 5 essential tips you can implement yourself, and which should pretty much ensure your car’s good health.

1. Check Engine Oil

Critical to an automobile’s lubrication system, the engine oil lubricates a car’s moving parts, cleans and inhibits corrosion, and also cools the engine by carrying heat away from the parts.

To check engine oil, Turn off the car’s ignition. Locate the dipstick, in case you don’t know where it is take the help of the owner’s manual and then remove the dipstick. Most dipstick carry the label “engine oil.”

Wipe off any excess oil and then check dip it another time to see if it reaches the “Full” mark or not. If not then you need to fill up to reach the “Full” mark.

Now, observe the color of the engine oil. A black an opaque appearance means time for a change. Dark brown but somewhat transparent means you’d need to change it after some time. A clear appearance means it’s OK, but be wary if it appears to be whitish, as that might indicate a need for a professional check up.

To replace engine oil, choose the product that’s already inside your car. Pour in slowly allowing it time to settle down. After you’re done, replace the dipstick properly.

2. Check Automatic Transmission Fluid

To run a check for automatic transmission fluid change the transmission lever’s position to Park of ‘P’ position. Locate the transmission dipstick, in case you don’t know where it is take the help of the owner’s manual and then remove the transmission dipstick. Wipe it and dip it again to check the levels.

Also look at the appearance of the fluid. A black fluid with a burnt smell is a sign that it needs a quick change. If its brown in color, then there’s still some life in it. In comparison a newly replaced fluid is red in color.

Aside from the appearance, refer to the owner’s manual as well. As some manufacturers specify the number of miles you can drive before a refill is needed.

3. Check Engine Coolant

This is a simple procedure. To perform the check simply locate the coolant overflow tank and note the levels.

Low coolant level will cause the engine to overheat, which may cause serious damage to the engine. If the levels are between “LOW” and “FULL” markings, then it’s OK. If it’s below the “LOW” marking, then naturally a replacement is needed.

4. Check CV Joint Boots

A majority of modern day automobiles are front wheel drive, wherein a CV joint’s job is to help in transmitting power to the wheels.

To check the CV joint for breakage or damage, you’d need to inspect the internal sides of the wheel. To make it easier for you, first turn the wheel to one side as much as it can turn. Now, look at the inside to inspect the front wheel arch. If your inspection reveals oil or greasing on the boot, it means that it’s broken. If it dry then there’s nothing to worry about. If it’s broken, then treat it as an emergency and arrange for a replacement.

5. Check Tire Pressure

Taking good care of wheels & tires is simple, very basic and very important. The point is to check air pressure without fail at least once a month. It might be a good idea if you purchased a tire pressure gauge, so that you can check the pressure any time by yourself. Another key consideration is to ensure the ideal tire pressure (as has been prescribed by the car manufacturer).

In addition to the basic checks outlined above, don’t postpone going to a professional mechanic if you sense trouble. Further, regular checkups too would ensure that an impending bigger trouble is forestalled before it blows out of proportion.

All of these tips focus on making your car more fuel efficient.

Fuel Efficiency Tip #1 Drive When You Crank Up This might seem obvious, but as soon as you crank up your car you should drive off. However, many people crank up and leave the car idling for a while. Instead of this, when you crank up drive off and only keep your car running when it is absolutely necessary.

Fuel Efficiency Tip #2 Don’t Ride the Break Many drivers hit the break more often than is necessary. Additionally there are quite a few drivers that slow down for a braking car when they could easily switch lanes. Not riding the break can increase your fuel efficiency by up to 30%, so this is a great tip you should follow.

Fuel Efficiency Tip #3 Turn Off Your Car If you are going to be stopping for more than 10 minutes you should switch off your car to keep fuel efficiency at its peak and not burn more gas than is necessary.

Fuel Efficiency Tip #4 Don’t Turn Off Your Car If you are only stopping for a brief moment or less than 5 minutes then don’t turn off your car because the amount of gas used to crank up is more than you would burn in that short period of time.

Fuel Efficiency Tip #5 Inflate Tires Properly Too many drivers never think of their tires, unless one goes flat. However, having tires that are properly inflated can save fuel and make your car more fuel efficient, saving you money. Because of this, you should check your tire pressure on a regular basis.

While gas prices don’t seem like they will be dipping considerably in the next few months every tip to help you make your car more fuel efficient is helpful. So, follow the above fuel tips and you will see that over time your car really is more fuel efficient.
