The job itself isn’t so bad but the moronic customers always coming in and thinking they know shit really gets on my nerves. Especially the phone calls. So we started recording the phone calls just so we’d have something to laugh at on slow days. And now I present these phone calls to you. For those who say I need to be fired – let’s see you try working at an auto parts store for more than a month….

Seeing as reading, math, science, etc, is all part of being a mechanic, yes, you're going to have to do those things.

As far as how good it is, it's a school like any other.

How well you do, depends 100% on how well you pay attention, study, etc.

You could go to Harvard for 4 years, and not get a degree of any kind. No fault of the school.

One of the best automotive degree programs in the northeast is just a few hours north of you….. Look into Alfred State College (www.alfredstate.edu). They have a vocational campus in Wellsville, NY, and they offer an excellent education at a reasonable price. They are part of the NY SUNY school system.

There is a difference between automotive mechanic and automotive engineer. An automotive mechanic is someone who fixes automotive systems. An automotive engineer designs automotive systems and directs technicians and machinists to build systems.

I don't know about Wyo Tech or UTI but automotive engineers is a subset of mechanical engineering. So an automotive engineer might study say engine-transmission compatibility or performance and fuel-economy trade-offs in design but might be an expert at collision repair. Any one: Mechanical engineer, mechanical engineer who as spent time studying automotive systems, and auto mechanic might all work for a car company in different jobs doing different things.

I don't see the need for a college degree if you are going to be a certified mechanic which is a higher paying vocation than anything you could get with a BA or BS.

But being that as it may, go to the college you plan to attend and see a counselor. Agree on what degree program can best be suited for your intellect and enroll. I don't know if you will have to make a certain SAT score or if that will be waived because you already have a vocation. Are you a veteran?

If so, go to the VA first. They can steer you to a counselor at the university that deals strictly with veterans.

    Good luck.

no it will only cover a certain amount and you will be responsible
for the rest of your education. I wanted to go for a Medical Assistant course and they told me that the program I picked was about $3 grand and that it would be fully paid for so those were the programs that they would recommend you choose so you would not go into debt.
